Promote and Preserve our Bow Shooting Sports
Archery as well as 3D is an awesome sport. Getting people to share the same passion and to get them to participate is going to be a challenge. But I think we are on the right track to promote all aspects of hunting, fishing, and camping as well as getting our young men and women involved in something we enjoy so much..
Some of the things that amaze me are that a lot of people on twitter and facebook will hunt. But have never shot 3D, Spots, Field archery locally or nationally. Or even been to a gun turkey shoot, 22 shoot, rifle or any gun events. Promoting these events will also promote our hunting heritage as well. Over the years competing in many archery tournaments I've seen the numbers drop from year to year, locally as well as nationally. It’s truly sad.
The big question is why? Is it because of economics, price tags, social media and local negativity? Maybe it is that one or two people locally that are the issue which will effect one's outlook on the sport, or because some are just not sure where to start?
I will be open to any and all suggestions. We the Archers can make a difference as long as we work together. During my support and activity in the sport of archery, I have had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of great people and shooters. Every now & then one will meet a certain individual that will make a unpleasant impression. But! Those hundred good will make up for that one bad.
Always remember that even the best of the best had to start somewhere and I have found that they are more than willing to talk with the good as well as advise many with their knowledge :-)

Try Before you Buy!
Exciting times with all the new bow's coming out this year! Be sure to shoot before you buy. Never let a salesman talk you into something that you won't be satisfied with in the long run.
First always be careful when drawing a bow without an arrow. Always use a no-fire release when checking the fit of the bow to prevent a mishap. With today's bows getting shorter, never use your fingers to draw a short axle to axle bow. What will happen is that when some one goes to let down the string, they have a tendency to rotate their wrist a ever so small amount, which causes the string to roll off the cam, causing damage. The things one is looking for in a new bow are Comfort, Draw length matched to you, Nice draw cycle, Stability, and shootability. If you are not comfortable, then you wont be satisfied. Comfort is the key.
