You are walking to your treestand when you start to cross this field the nearest buck is 50 yards away and the far buck is 100yards away. You are on public land and the deer are downwind of you there is a slight breeze. Do you SHOOT or PASS? What buck do you shoot and where do you aim? Let’s hear why you made that choice!

I would shoot the closest deer. Not only does it have the better rack, but it's neck would present about as large a kill zone as the further deer's side shot. I would aim for the middle of the white spot under his chin and squeeze the trigger.

I re-read this comment and what I meant to say was that the percentage of a successful shot at the near deer's neck would be about the same as the farther away deer's side shot and I am assuming that I did not have time to use anything for a rest.

Of course, hunting with a bow, they both would walk unless I could shoot them with my camera. :)

If I could get off a shot before it bolted I would shoot the closest buckin the neck and put him on my wall for sure!! If he bolted and the further buck was still standing, I'd take him behind the shoulder.
With a bow, I'd sit there and cry.
